Review Copies of My Next Book

This is unorthodox, but what the heck? I’d rather do some “pull” media than all that “push” stuff.

My next book,
Life Incorporated:
How we traded meaning for markets, society for self-interest, and citizenship for customer service
,
will be published by Randomhouse in June 2009. We are assembling a reviewers’ copies list now. (Reviewers are journalists who write book reviews for publications.)

While I can’t promise anything, if you email me your name, address, and print/radio/web/tv/blog affiliation, I will put you on the list to get a galley. Press galleys cost a whole lot more than actual books, so if you are simply a reader who wants a copy but can’t afford it, email me and I’ll get something else to you – worst case, a PDF or something.

I’ll wait for June, don’t want to ruin my 10-year always-buy-Rushkoff-books streak. I’d be interested in somehow seeing your bibliography though, but maybe that sort of thing shows up on Amazon’s page?

Addendum: Looks like I can wait for the Amazon page, since it looks like there’s a works cited section there, for Coercion at least.

Bibliography hasn’t been assembled. I could email you the footnotes as they are, though….

Ah that’s all right, I’ll just wait. What I’ll end up doing is collecting many of the books you cite so I can consult them as I read your book next Summer. Part of my experiments with combining the perspectives of everyone involved in the process of a work of art, or something. I’m still working that out, hehe.

Nice. Would this offer be open to academic types as well?

#6 Posted by Douglas (08.09.08 at 19:25 )

Absolutely. They’ve got a whole academic branch and they want university people, academic journals, etc.

Might an Non-profit group do a reivew for their internal publication?

yup
