Make Radio

Who Wants to Make Radio?

The Media Squat is freeform, bottom-up, open source radio looking towards similarly open source, bottom-up solutions to some of the problems engendered by our relentlessly top-down society. So come play!

We are welcoming anyone to submit 2-10 minute pieces to be played on air. Please consult us before so by leaving a comment below or emailing Janine at themediasquat {at} gmail(.)com. Just let us know what your topic will be and who you are interviewing. If you have any questions, they will be answered here or via email.

Also, here is a great website that gives new and old producers tips on making radio and producing pieces for radio:

Look forward to hearing from you!

Greetings,

This message is In regards to the “people doing stuff” segment. First Id like to say that I Im a fan of the media squat and that I resonate very much with the ideas of value creation. I own a diesel truck that I have converted to run on waste vegetable oil. I would love to speak at length about the ins and outs of WVO as fuel theory and application. My approach to this “hobby” relates more to value creation than novelty. I did not buy a “kit” and pay someone to install it. Every detail from research to assembly to collection/filtration of oil was handled by myself with assistance from friends, neighbors and the internet. All done on the CHEAP. I ended up with an extremely compact and functional home made WVO conversion with very little monetary investment.

I am also a media studies production graduate with the University at Buffalo. Given there is a significant interest in what I do, I would love to make small piece of motion picture art detailing my automotively oily love affair.

I would be honored to be involved with the media squat and look forward to hearing from you.
